At the moment the choir has just two staff members, our musical Director Mr. Gerwyn Harries and our accompanist Miss Angharad Davies.




Mr Gerwyn Harries

Gerwyn, who was born and bred in Glynneath, began piano lessons at an early age under the tuition of Mrs Mair Potts As a pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg Glynnedd, he won many prizes at local Eisteddfodau. While Gerwyn was a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera, he was a member of the Boys Under 15 Choir which won the Urdd Eisteddfod twice, and also undertook a singing tour of the United States in 1972.Gerwyn graduated from the Polytechnic of Wales with a degree in Humanities in 1982. He  joined the Choir in the summer of 1984 and from that time until 1996 was Choir Accompanist. In 1996, Gerwyn became Deputy Conductor and in October 2001, he took over the mantle of Musical Director 


Miss Angharad Jayne Davies

Angharad Jayne Davies is 21 Years old also born and bred in Glynneath. As a pupil at Ysgol Gyfan Ystalyfera she passed all of her A levels achieving high grades including a B in music. Currently Angharad is pursuing the ABRSM Musical performance Diploma and is studying at TrinityCollege Carmarthen. From a young age Angharad has been a member of the West Glamorgan Youth Orchestra and Neath Chamber Orchestra which she frequently accompanies on piano and harpsichord. Angharad last year was selected as assistant accompanist at the Royal Albert Hall for the 1000 voices concert. For the last four years since the tender age of16 Angharad has accompanied Glynneath Male voice Choir, bringing variety to the Choir’s concerts As a solo soprano and taking part in many humourous sketches. The choir is, to a man, intensely proud of her. Angharad is also deputy accompanist for the Neath and Port Talbot Cancer Challenge Singers. In her spare time Angharad teaches piano and violin at her home in Glynneath but her ultimate dream is to become a full time professional accompanist.
